The Cost of COP31
What the official accommodation platform tells us about the cost, distance and visible availability of staying in Antalya for COP31.
Affordability narrows quickly — and lower-cost options are generally farther away.
SICI’s 22 September snapshot of the official COP31 accommodation platform captures 208 bookable properties for the full conference period. The market is broad, but lower-cost options form a much smaller segment, while visible room inventory is already tighter in parts of that segment.

SICI analysed 208 properties available to book on the official COP31 accommodation platform for 9–20 November 2026. Across the captured inventory, the Median Starting Cost was €2,381.72 for the full 11-night period.
Only 28 properties — 13.5% — had a Starting Cost of €1,000 or less.
Lower-cost options are a limited share of official inventory.

Lower Starting Costs are generally found farther from COP31.

The relationship is descriptive, not a fixed “proximity premium”. Property type, location and meal plan also vary across Antalya’s accommodation market.
Within the broad Antalya area, the median was €2,055.35 within 30 km and €1,127.50 beyond 30 km. Among Antalya Bed & Breakfast properties, the medians were €1,265 and €858 respectively.
Parts of the lower-cost market already show tighter visible inventory.
Across the 208 captured properties, 56 showed ten rooms or fewer remaining on the official booking platform.
Among the 72 properties with a Starting Cost of €1,500 or less, 33 showed ten rooms or fewer remaining.
“Rooms left” refers only to inventory visible through the official COP31 booking platform. It is not a measure of total hotel capacity.
Accommodation cost is part of a wider participation question.
“Inclusiveness at climate summits is often discussed in terms of representation and accreditation. But there are more basic financial and access thresholds that shape participation as well.”
Accommodation, transport and day-to-day costs affect the extent to which actors with fewer resources can participate in COP31. Lower-priced accommodation farther from the venue may remain practical if participants have reliable and affordable transport access.
The next stage of SICI’s research will examine accommodation alongside transport and shuttle access.
What “Starting Cost” means.
Starting Cost refers to the 11-night total calculated from the “Price From” rate displayed for each property on the official COP31 accommodation platform for 9–20 November 2026.
Distance was displayed for 197 of the 208 properties. Prices and availability are dynamic and may change after the snapshot.
The saved result pages confirm the stay dates, but occupancy was not independently verified from visible page data. No occupancy assumption is inferred from URL parameters.
